A bird box nest for your nest box bird!. The smaller boxes can be made from one piece (plank) of wood fencing (cedar is suggested because weatherproofing is not required). No need to be exact with dimensions except get the entrance hole about right (too small and birds cannot enter, too big and protection against predators is reduced)
The Open Box and Closed Box designs are essentially the same. The smaller open box panel is shown as the heavy blue rectangle and the closed box with its circular entrance hole. Brass hinge(s) can be secured to the back panel and the lid. Ensure your birds nesting box is draught free with a little caulk/sealant or wood glue around the joints before fixing with brass or stainless steel screws.
